Thalassa follows the practice of Reiki as was founded by Dr. Usui Mikao Sensei in Japan in the 19th century. The word Reiki consists of 2 Japanese characters: Rei (higher power) and Ki (energy). It constitutes the Universal Energy that surrounds us and with Reiki we channel the energy to the places that need it.

Reiki is a technique that promotes healing of the physical and mental state. Reiki is spiritual but not religious.

Thalassa is the Greek goddess of the Sea and Navigation, guiding the fishermen safely back to shore. Thalassa Consultancy was founded by Bianca Polak in 2004 as an IT consultancy practice. As Bianca became a reiki master in 2016, she has since added reiki services. The name Thalassa is also inspired by the sea, the waves, the forever changing and flowing of the water. This is very in tune with the practice of reiki as well. The lotus flower represents peace and calm.
