When I became a Reiki practitioner two years ago and started practicing self-reiki, my cats sensed the energy and would come and sit close to me. Nearly a year ago one of my elderly cats became very ill and was diagnosed with kidney disease. I decided to do reiki for her, using the level 2 symbols. She was receiving the Reiki very well, recovered and no longer needs medication and fluid drips.
Inspired by how Reiki has helped my cat, I decided to learn more about Reiki for animals and how the animal chakras work. For animals, there is an eighth chakra, the Brachial chakra, which is located just below the shoulder blades and is the point which relates to the animal and human interconnection. When doing Reiki for animals it is recommended to start the Reiki with this chakra.
In my experience, after making the initial connection, just follow what the animal indicates. When I helped a cat with Reiki who has nose cancer, he maneuvered himself to put his face inside my hand and subsequently completely relaxed and started purring softly. Animals will also indicate when they have had enough and get up and walk away.
Besides healing animals, I have also done distance reiki for pets in palliative care, who were in their final days, to help them let go and cross over the rainbow bridge.
Be compassionate to all living beings!
Bianca
